Basal metabolic rate is expenditure at complete rest, with no walking, work or digestion. Daily expenditure is therefore higher, and using the resting figure as a meal target means eating systematically below actual needs. Why did my basal metabolic rate rise at the same body weight?
Because it is calculated from fat free mass. When muscle increases and fat decreases at the same weight, the input of the equation grows and basal metabolic rate grows with it.
Where does the recommended calorie intake come from?
