Weight control

The Weight Control section turns a body-composition model into a calculated target and suggested changes. The numbers are related, but they do not come from a conversation about your goal, health or training.

Where to find it: The Weight Control section below the Muscle-Fat Analysis.

1. Target weight is an algorithm output

Target weight is neither a goal you selected nor a value prescribed by a professional. It is a reference calculated from the device model of balanced body composition.

The device compares current body composition with its recommended model and turns the difference into target weight. Overall weight control is derived from that target.

Target weight should therefore not automatically be treated as ideal weight from BMI or as a personal target for sport, treatment or everyday life. That simplification can be particularly misleading in someone with above-average muscle mass.

  • The input is the current model of body composition.
  • The output is a device reference, not an individual plan.
  • A difference of several kilograms says neither how quickly nor whether weight should change.

2. Split the overall change into fat and muscle

The same change in body weight can mean a different result depending on whether fat or muscle changes.

Fat control and muscle control explain what the overall suggested weight change contains. The sign before a number gives the direction of the model suggestion, not a prediction of what will happen.

For real progress, compare the suggestion with the trend in fat mass, skeletal muscle mass and weight. Long-term direction and preserving functional muscle are usually more useful than hitting one calculated target exactly.

  • Weight control is the summary; fat and muscle control show its components.
  • A suggested change of zero does not mean that body composition cannot improve.
  • The trend in measured results matters more than chasing one calculated target.

3. Where this section stops

The algorithm does not know medical limitations, dietary history, a sport season or personal preferences. It cannot determine a safe pace or a concrete plan.

Use the result as a question for the next decision: does the calculated direction match what you want, and does the trend support it? Do not treat it as an automatic instruction to lose or gain weight.

With a medical limitation, marked weight change, an eating disorder, pregnancy or treatment, planning belongs with a qualified healthcare professional. InBody provides context, not a treatment decision.

Evidence used

The guide follows InBody terminology and interpretation documentation and deliberately separates the device model from individual medical or nutrition advice.
